Oahu | Amazing helicopter tour
Doesn’t everyone have their own bucket list with things to experience or achieve? On Oahu, Hawaii, I was able to tick off two points directly. First: I made it to Hawaii. Check. Second: Open door helicopter tour of Oahu. Check.

Unfortunately, I only spent four days on Oahu due to time reasons. Sooo how can you see the most of an island? Bird’s eye view! It was incredibly impressive to drive across the streets of Oahu. I knew that the island would just look gigantic from above. And I can promise you: You will not be disappointed!
WHAT YOU SHOULD NOTE
The weather on Oahu often changes unpredictably from one extreme to the other, especially in the rainy season. There is very often brilliant sunshine on one side of the island, while storms, thick clouds and rain rage on the opposite side. We had the full switch between all possible weather conditions within one hour in one day.
If the weather conditions are too bad, the professional team from Novictor Helicopters of course is able to assess this early and your flight will be postponed or canceled as desired. You only spend a short time on the island and you don’t want to miss the flight? I recommend that you keep an eye on the weather forecast and then simply book your tour 1-2 days in advance.
NOVICTOR HELICOPTERS OAHU
Novictor Helicopters offers different tour packages: You can focus on different sections of the island you want to fly over or simply book the whole island package. Another option is, for example, the Waikiki Sunset Flight. Although there is of course a risk, if it’s too cloudy, there is no beautiful sunset to see.
For those people who are in love there are proposal flights, with a romantic landing in a green area or ad a topping like a gourmet dinner including champagne.
The package of aerial photography is interesting for photographers / videographers. There is the possibility for the pilot to slow down over selected photo spots or they fly a second time to the same position.
For all flights you can choose between with doors or off doors.
Good to know: You don’t have to worry about getting there. After you have booked your tour, you will receive a confirmation email with the information when you will be collected at your accommodation.
WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING
In general, you don’t need to bring anything, except yourself and if you want you can bring a camera or your smartphone. Before the start you will be sufficiently introduced to all safety precautions, you will get a nice safety belt and a case for your phone which you can hang around your neck.
IMPORTANT FOR OPEN DOORS TOURS
It’s not easy to take pictures with your smartphone, because the strong wind makes everything shake. Nevertheless, you will definitely have got great photos in the end. In addition, I recommend taking a light jacket or sweater with you, as it gets really windy and cold up there with the open doors. If you have long hair, tie it up with a hair tie. A bun is definitely better than a normal ponytail: My hair was totally knotted in the headphones during the flight. #Ouch
DO I FLY ALONE IN THE HELICOPTER?
No. If you haven’t booked a private tour, the helicopter will be filled with more people accordingly if more people have booked a tour at the same time. In total there are 3 places and of course another seat for the pilot.
I booked the tour together with the lovely Yvi, whom I got to know through Couchsurfing and I am sooo happy that we could share this amazing experience together! Of course, a helicopter flight alone is definitely cool, too. But it was much greater to be excited with someone, to squeal with joy and to take photos together. Thank you so much Yvi, for sharing unforgettable amazing 60 minutes and for this perfect day with cocktails in the evening! ♥
60 MINUTES GOOSEBUMPS AND HAPPINESS
The entire island in one hour. During the tour, our dear pilot told us all sorts of stories or pointed out particularly great views. We could even spot turtles and rays in the crystal clear water from the helicopter. The pilot flew deeper through Kualoa Valley, so we flew very close to the high rocks and could even see a waterfall. Pure Adrenaline!
It still feels unreal that I was able to experience such unforgettable 60 minutes. Memories that will definitely last a lifetime.
Lots of Love ♥
